Gust-Skimmer

Gust-Skimmer was released in 2011 as part of the Mirrodin Besieged set, the second expansion in the Scars of Mirrodin block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set depicted the central conflict on the artificial plane of Mirrodin as it was being corrupted by the metallic contagion known as Phyrexia. The card represents a utilitarian, insectoid construct designed to patrol the skies of this mechanical landscape, reflecting the set's broader themes of artifact-heavy gameplay and the tension between the native Mirran resistance and the invading Phyrexians.

The artwork was provided by Dan Murayama Scott, who aimed to capture the sleek, unnerving aesthetic of the plane's machine-based ecosystem. By emphasizing the creature's fragile, wing-like blades and the muted, industrial color palette characteristic of the set, Scott helped ground the card within the visual language of the Scars block.
