Honor of the Pure

Honor of the Pure was originally introduced in the Magic 2010 core set, marking a significant shift in design philosophy for the game as it sought to provide more flavorful and distinct mechanical identities for each color. As a white enchantment, it serves as a tribal anthem, specifically bolstering white creatures to reflect the color's thematic reliance on unity and small-unit cohesion. It was reprinted in Magic 2011, maintaining the same collector number and function, to ensure that white-aligned aggressive decks remained competitive within the Standard environment of the time.

The artwork for this iteration was created by Greg Staples, an established illustrator known for his dramatic, high-contrast style. Staples focused on capturing a sense of divine radiance and martial discipline, utilizing light and shadow to emphasize the heroic stature of the soldier archetype depicted. The card was well-received by players for its efficiency, becoming a staple of white-based aggressive strategies throughout its tenure in the competitive card pool.
