Horizon Canopy

Horizon Canopy was originally released in the 2007 Future Sight expansion, designed as a utility land that allowed players to sacrifice it to draw a card, effectively trading board presence for card velocity. It was part of an innovative cycle of lands that showcased unique mechanical identities, and its inclusion in the 2015 Zendikar Expeditions was intended to provide a high-end, aesthetic reprint for the modern era. The Expeditions series served as a celebration of the original Zendikar block's theme of exploration, featuring iconic land cards with exclusive, full-art foils and a distinct, weathered frame design.

The art for this iteration was rendered by artist Daniel Ljunggren, who sought to capture the ethereal, untamed nature of the Zendikar plane. The design team opted for an aesthetic that emphasizes scale and light, utilizing the full-art window to showcase the landscape's surreal verticality.
