Provenance

Where it came from

Hostility was originally released in the 2007 set Lorwyn as a powerful red elemental incarnation. Designed to punish opponents for interacting with the stack, its ability to generate elemental tokens whenever an opponent casts a spell that targets one of your permanents or yourself established it as a staple in disruptive red decks. The art, created by Greg Staples, portrays the incarnation as a jagged, flame-wreathed force of nature, emphasizing the raw aggression characteristic of its color identity.

The Commander Anthology Volume II version, released in 2018, was part of a curated collection designed to provide players with sought-after reprints from various early Commander preconstructed decks. This specific printing utilized the original Lorwyn artwork and frame, serving as a functional tool for multiplayer formats. The release was well-received by the community for increasing the availability of high-impact cards that had become difficult to acquire on the secondary market.
