Human Cleric

The Human Cleric, designated as card number one in the Breaking News Tokens set, was produced to provide functional gameplay utility for players of various tabletop role-playing games. These tokens were conceptualized to bridge the gap between traditional narrative-focused play and the tactile requirements of grid-based combat, offering a standardized visual representation for common adventuring classes.

The design aesthetic for the series draws heavily from the rapid-fire, bold visuals of mid-century broadsheets and metropolitan newspapers. By utilizing a high-contrast black-and-white color palette and distinctive typography, the illustrators aimed to give each token a sense of urgency and narrative weight, positioning the characters as if they were snapshots captured in the middle of a developing story. This stylistic choice has been well-received by collectors who value thematic consistency across their game accessories.
