Human // Wolf

The Human // Wolf double-faced card was issued as part of the 2012 Friday Night Magic promotional series, a program established by Wizards of the Coast to encourage local game store participation. Released during the Innistrad block, this card highlights the set's central transformation mechanic, which allowed players to flip physical cards to represent a creature's change into a werewolf. By providing a premium, foil-treated version of this card, the promotion offered enthusiasts a distinct visual upgrade for their decks, cementing the card's place in the lore of the gothic horror-inspired expansion.

The artwork for this specific iteration was crafted to emphasize the duality inherent in the Innistrad setting. The design intent was to capture both the mundane vulnerability of the human form and the visceral ferocity of its lycanthropic alter ego, utilizing the distinct aesthetic language common to the game's creature designs during that era. While the card is a standard mechanical inclusion in red-green werewolf archetypes, its status as a promotional foil made it a sought-after aesthetic choice for players looking to distinguish their collections through limited-release materials.
