Hushwood Verge // Hushwood Verge

Hushwood Verge was released as part of the Duskmourn: House of Horror Art Series for the Magic: The Gathering card game. This set was designed to evoke a modern horror aesthetic, focusing on themes of isolation, entrapment, and supernatural dread within an infinite, haunted mansion. As a land card, the artwork serves to ground the player within the environment of the plane, emphasizing the overgrown and encroaching nature of the House.

The artwork for this piece follows the high-fantasy illustrative style characteristic of Wizards of the Coast's recent expansions. By presenting the landscape as an art card, the series highlights the collaborative effort between art directors and individual artists to build a cohesive, terrifying atmosphere. The design was received as a functional and thematic anchor for the set, intended to immerse players in the specific horror tropes that define the Duskmourn experience.
