Imp

The Imp token was released as part of the Murders at Karlov Manor set for the Magic: The Gathering card game, published by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. Tokens in this set were designed to represent summoned creatures created by the effects of various spells and abilities within the game's gothic-noir Ravnica setting. These cards are intended to serve as visual aids during gameplay rather than as playable deck components themselves, adhering to the standardized layout established for all token cards in the modern era of the game.

The artistic direction for this specific token reflects the brooding, atmospheric aesthetic of Karlov Manor, characterized by a mix of classical fantasy elements and the set's signature mystery-investigation theme. Artists commissioned for these tokens focus on maintaining visual consistency with the card types they represent, ensuring that the Imp maintains the traditional diabolic appearance expected by players while integrating the darker color palette associated with the set's plane. These tokens are generally distributed within booster packs, serving as a functional utility for players who utilize summoning mechanics.
