Provenance

Where it came from

Infuse was released in 1995 as part of the Ice Age expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, Ice Age was the first standalone expansion set, designed to be playable without the base set and set in the frigid, post-apocalyptic world of Dominaria. The card was created to provide utility within the blue color pie, allowing players to tap an opponent's creature as a form of tempo control.

The artwork for Infuse was provided by artist Anson Maddocks, who was a foundational contributor to the game’s early visual identity. His illustration style for this set leaned into the stark, wintry aesthetic characteristic of the Ice Age expansion. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional, low-rarity common that reflected the game's evolving mechanics regarding board state management and interaction during the mid-nineties.
