Where it came from
Inspiring Overseer first appeared in the Streets of New Capenna set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. The card features an angel character designed to reflect the Art Deco aesthetic of the plane, a setting inspired by the glitz and grime of 1920s noir cinema. It quickly gained recognition within the Magic: The Gathering community for its powerful efficiency as both a creature and a source of life gain and card draw.
This specific iteration is part of a Secret Lair drop, a premium product line where established artists are invited to provide new, stylized interpretations of existing cards. The artwork for this version focuses on the ethereal, soaring nature of the angel, utilizing bold lines and distinct color palettes that contrast with the standard card printings to offer collectors a more visually striking representation of the character.
