Insurrection

Insurrection was originally released in the 2002 expansion set Onslaught as a rare red sorcery. Designed as a high-mana game-ender, it encapsulates the chaotic, aggressive identity of the color red by allowing a player to seize all creatures on the battlefield until the end of the turn and grant them haste. The card quickly became a staple in multiplayer formats due to its ability to turn an opponent's own board state against them, making it a definitive card for the commander-style play that would later define much of the casual Magic: The Gathering landscape.

The version from the 2009 Planechase release features updated frame technology and incorporates the specific set symbol associated with the supplemental product. The artwork, originally by Kev Walker for the Onslaught printing and retained for this release, depicts a frenzied, mob-like scene that perfectly captures the flavor of a sudden uprising. It remains one of the most iconic red spells in the game's history, frequently reprinted for its strategic utility and its role as a dramatic, decisive moment in long-form multiplayer games.
