Ivorytusk Fortress

Ivorytusk Fortress was released as part of the Khans of Tarkir set in 2014 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set draws heavy thematic inspiration from Central Asian history and the warlord culture of the steppes, centering on five warring clans. As a promo card, this specific iteration features unique alternative frame treatments common to Magic's promotional distribution model, intended to reward players for participating in organized tournament play during the set's initial release window.

The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Svetlin Velinov, who has contributed extensively to the visual language of the game. Velinov focused on depicting the architectural grandeur and immense scale of the Abzan Houses, the faction associated with the card. The design intent was to emphasize the faction's defensive nature and resilience, using the imagery of the fortified structure to reflect the card's mechanical function of protecting creatures during combat. It was received as a solid addition to the Abzan tactical repertoire, noted for its thematic alignment with the clan’s durable, endurance-based playstyle.
