What it does
Draw two cards. If you control a Jace planeswalker, draw three cards instead.
His triumph was not in outsmarting Bolas's plan, but in understanding why ultimate power is self-defeating.

Where it came from
Jace's Triumph was released in 2019 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set War of the Spark. The set focused on a climactic conflict on the plane of Ravnica, where the planeswalker Nicol Bolas attempted to ascend to godhood, forcing various protagonists to unite to stop him. The card features art by Magali Villeneuve, a prominent illustrator in the game whose work is known for its atmospheric depth and focus on character expression. In the narrative, the card represents the intellectual victory of the mind-mage Jace Beleren during this pivotal war.
Mechanically, the card is a sorcery that rewards players for having a planeswalker on the battlefield, reflecting the set's unique focus on planeswalker cards appearing at every rarity. Villeneuve’s design captures Jace in a moment of clarity amidst the chaos of the battle. Upon its release, it was regarded as a functional utility card within blue-aligned decks, praised by the community for its thematic resonance with the overarching story of the War of the Spark and its clean, illustrative execution.
