Provenance

Where it came from

Junktroller was originally released in the 2005 Ravnica: City of Guilds set, designed to represent the scavenger-heavy culture of the Golgari Swarm within the sprawling cityscape of Ravnica. The card was conceived as a utility artifact, reflecting the Golgari philosophy of recycling and repurposing waste, both in flavor and in its mechanic that allows a player to shuffle a card from their graveyard into their library.

The Ravnica Remastered version, designated as card 262, brings back the original illustration by Daren Bader. Bader’s work for the set is characterized by a gritty, industrial aesthetic that emphasizes the decay and resourcefulness inherent to the plane of Ravnica. Upon its return in the remastered set, the card was received as a nostalgic inclusion for players who appreciate the enduring mechanical identity of the original block, serving as a functional piece of Magic: The Gathering history.
