Keldon Megaliths

Keldon Megaliths was released in 2007 as part of the Future Sight expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As the final set in the Time Spiral block, Future Sight was designed to explore the concept of alternate timelines, featuring cards from the game's past, present, and theoretical future. The card represents a location in the Keld region of the plane of Dominaria, specifically drawing upon the lore of the Keldons, a warrior culture deeply central to the game's early narrative history.

The artwork was commissioned from Philip Straub, whose interpretation emphasizes the rugged, volcanic aesthetic associated with the Keldon mountains. The design intent was to reflect the 'timeshifted' nature of the set, pairing established thematic elements with unique mechanical gameplay that allows the land to produce mana while simultaneously serving as an offensive tool. It remains a notable example of the functional, lore-heavy landscape design that characterized the mid-2000s era of the game.
