Kezzerdrix was released in 1997 as part of the Tempest expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set is widely regarded for its high power level and its introduction of mechanics like Buyback and Shadow, which helped define the tactical landscape of the game during the late 1990s. As a creature card, Kezzerdrix embodies the aggressive, high-risk philosophy often associated with black-aligned cards in this era, featuring a significant power-to-cost ratio paired with a self-damaging drawback that forces the player to manage their own life total.
