Where it came from
Knight of Sursi was originally released in the 2007 set Future Sight, serving as a representative of the card game's then-experimental 'timeshifted' mechanics. It features the flanking keyword and the suspend ability, reflecting the set's design philosophy of blending nostalgia with futuristic or alternate-reality concepts. The card represents the Keldon Empire's influence and the militaristic culture of the Sursi region within the game's broader lore.
The art was provided by artist Greg Staples, who utilized a dramatic, sweeping composition to emphasize the knight's mounted charge. When the card was included in the 2021 Time Spiral Remastered set as collector number 22, it was re-released to celebrate the history of the original block. The remastered version maintains the aesthetic intent of the original while updated for the modern card frame, remaining a reliable choice for players utilizing white-aligned draft archetypes.
