Knighted Myr

Knighted Myr was introduced as part of the Commander Masters expansion, a set specifically curated to support the Commander format by featuring high-impact reprints and thematic inclusions from Magic: The Gathering's history. As a creature card, it draws upon the enduring legacy of the Myr, a race of small, construct-like beings originally created by the artificial plane of Mirrodin to serve as assistants and laborers. The design serves as a functional artifact creature that provides synergy for decks focused on artifact-based strategies, reflecting the mechanical theme of building and utilizing construct tokens.

The card's aesthetic and mechanical identity were crafted to evoke the classic aesthetic of the Scars of Mirrodin block, where the Myr first gained prominence as iconic artifacts. Illustrators working on these supplemental sets often aim to maintain continuity with the original art style while updating the visual clarity for modern framing. Upon its release, it was received as a solid utility piece for limited environments and specific Commander archetypes, appreciated by players for its ability to integrate seamlessly into diverse mechanical engines.
