Kozilek's Command

Kozilek's Command was introduced as a marquee card in the Modern Horizons 3 set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. As part of the 'Command' cycle, which allows players to choose two modes from a list of effects, the card represents the Eldrazi titan Kozilek and serves as a high-impact, flexible tool for players in formats like Modern and Commander. Its design emphasizes the colorless, resource-intensive identity of the Eldrazi, requiring generic mana to cast while offering utility ranging from token creation to card draw and removal.

The artwork for this specific promotional version was crafted by artist Volkan Baga, whose work is highly regarded in the Magic: The Gathering community for its atmospheric and often majestic depiction of legendary creatures. In this illustration, Baga focused on the imposing, alien geometry of Kozilek, utilizing a color palette that aligns with the Eldrazi's distinct visual language of bismuth-like structures and otherworldly energy. The design was received by the player base as a powerful addition to ramp and control strategies, praised for its mechanical versatility and aesthetic appeal as a premium promotional variant.
