Krosan Archer

Krosan Archer was released as part of the Odyssey expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game in October 2001. Developed during a period when Wizards of the Coast was emphasizing graveyard-related mechanics and a more dynamic, resource-heavy style of play, the card represents the flora and fauna of the Krosa forest, a central location in the game's Dominarian lore. As a common card, it was designed to provide functional utility for players utilizing green mana, specifically offering a repeatable ability that rewards players for interacting with their own graveyard.

The illustration for the card was created by artist Christopher Rush, a legendary figure in the early history of the game. His aesthetic approach during the Odyssey era often focused on high-contrast, atmospheric depictions of creatures within their environment. The artwork for Krosan Archer captures the archer in a stoic, vigilant stance, reinforcing the forest-dwelling theme of the set. Upon its release, the card was widely received as a standard but effective component of Limited format play, appreciated for its steady presence in the early-to-mid game phases of a match.
