The artwork for Lava Dart was created by artist Brian Snoddy, whose distinct, illustrative style often leaned into the gritty and visceral aesthetic of early Magic sets. Snoddy’s depiction of a jagged, molten projectile captured the brutal efficiency of the spell, which allowed players to cast it for a single red mana and later 'flash it back' from the graveyard at the cost of sacrificing a mountain.
