Provenance

Where it came from

Lead the Stampede originally appeared in the 2010 Magic: The Gathering set Scars of Mirrodin. Designed as an efficient card-advantage tool for green creature-heavy decks, it reflects the block's focus on the metallic world of Mirrodin and the encroaching Phyrexian corruption. The card was crafted to reward players for filling their decks with creatures, allowing them to look at the top five cards and reveal all creature cards found within.

The artwork for the card was illustrated by Mike Bierek, who captured the frenetic energy of a migration across the fractured landscapes of the plane. Within the community, the card is recognized for its utility in 'Elves' and 'Goblins' tribal decks, eventually earning a place on 'The List', a curated selection of reprints integrated into modern Set Boosters to introduce players to iconic or mechanically interesting cards from the game's history.
