Legion's Judgment

Legion's Judgment was released in 2017 as part of the Ixalan expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set introduced a high-fantasy world heavily influenced by the Age of Discovery, centering on the conflict between four factions: the Sun Empire, the Brazen Coalition, the River Heralds, and the Legion of Dusk. As a common-rarity spell, the card was designed to provide players with a straightforward, thematic way to remove powerful threats from the battlefield, reflecting the rigid, zealous nature of the vampire-led Legion of Dusk as they sought to reclaim their dominion.

The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game whose work is characterized by soft lighting and rich, painterly textures. Voss was tasked with capturing the somber, colonial aesthetic of the Legion of Dusk, utilizing a color palette dominated by deep reds and muted golds.
