What it does

First strike, trample, haste

Whenever this creature attacks, it gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of creatures you control.

When this creature enters, if it's not a token, each opponent creates a token that's a copy of it. The tokens are goaded for the rest of the game. (They attack each combat if able and attack a player other than you if able.)

Provenance

Where it came from

Life of the Party is a card featured in the Magic: The Gathering set known as The List, a curated selection of reprints integrated into Set Boosters. This specific card originated in the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate expansion, which drew heavy inspiration from the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing environment. It was designed to capture the chaotic and social energy of a party-themed mechanic within a fantasy setting, rewarding players for engaging with multiple opponents simultaneously.

The visual design and illustration were crafted to emphasize the whimsical and raucous nature of its namesake. By leaning into the aesthetic tropes of high-fantasy revelry, the artistic direction sought to contrast the intense tactical nature of the game with a moment of levity. Upon its release, the card was received as a flavorful, niche inclusion for Commander format decks, praised by players who prioritize interactive, communal gameplay over strictly competitive efficiency.
