What it does
Spells you cast cost 1 generic mana less to cast for each card with the same name as that spell in your graveyard.
Every hour, at the turning of the glass, its owner had whispered to the locket, seeding it with secrets. This would be her legacy, her memory, if the rifts should take her.

Where it came from
Locket of Yesterdays was released in 2006 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Time Spiral expansion. The set was designed to explore the concept of temporal distortion and nostalgia, featuring mechanics that referenced older cards and historical moments within the game's lore. This artifact, specifically designed to reduce the casting cost of spells played previously in the same turn, embodies the set's thematic focus on time manipulation and archival memory.
The card’s art was illustrated by Dan Dos Santos, who opted for a visual style that evokes a sense of arcane antiquity. The design process focused on creating a talisman that appeared both intricate and ancient, fitting the aesthetic of the Dominaria setting during a period of ecological and magical decay. Upon its release, it was recognized by players primarily as a niche utility tool, valued for its synergy with decks that utilized high volumes of recurring or flashback-focused spells.
