Lord of the Forsaken

Lord of the Forsaken was released as part of the Tarkir: Dragonstorm Commander set, drawing inspiration from the rich, war-torn lore of the Tarkir plane. This card embodies the darker aesthetic of the set, focusing on the themes of necromancy and the sacrifice required to fuel powerful spells. Its design serves as a tactical tool for players who favor high-cost spells, allowing for significant mana acceleration at the cost of life, which aligns with the aggressive, high-stakes nature of commander gameplay.

The card features artwork that emphasizes the grim, haunting visuals typical of the set's darker factions. The illustration aims to evoke a sense of ancient, forbidden power, rendered with the heavy shadows and stark color palettes that define the aesthetic of the Tarkir Dragonstorm era. Like many cards in the Commander series, it was received by the player base as a utility piece intended to balance the power curves of multicolored deck builds, finding its place primarily in graveyard-themed and aggressive control strategies.
