Lurking Skirge

Lurking Skirge was released in 1999 as part of the Urza's Legacy expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set served as the second installment in the Urza block, a period characterized by powerful artifact-themed mechanics and a deep narrative focus on the artificer Urza. The card was designed to function within the set's cycle of creatures that utilize the shadow ability, an evasion keyword that limited engagement to other creatures also possessing the trait.

The artwork for the card was created by illustrator Eric Peterson, who leaned into the dark, gothic aesthetic typical of black-aligned cards in this era.
