Magnivore

Magnivore was originally released as part of the Odyssey expansion in 2001 and was later reprinted in Ninth Edition in 2005. As a rare creature, its design reflects the 'spell mastery' themes common in that era of Magic: The Gathering, where the creature's power is tied to the number of sorceries in the player's graveyard. This mechanic encouraged players to build decks heavy with utility spells, turning the creature into a potent late-game finisher.

The Ninth Edition illustration was provided by Carl Critchlow, a prolific artist known for his distinct, expressive style within the game. Critchlow’s portrayal of the Magnivore emphasizes its monstrous, consuming nature, fitting the card's function as a creature that grows by devouring the remnants of cast spells.
