Mana Geyser

Mana Geyser was first introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card game in the Fifth Dawn expansion in 2004, serving as a powerful red sorcery that generates mana based on the number of tapped lands an opponent controls. The card was designed as a high-reward tool for multiplayer formats, rewarding players for waiting until the late game to unleash a burst of resources. Its inclusion in the Commander 2021 preconstructed deck Prismari Performance ensured its continued relevance in the popular Commander format, where multiplayer dynamics make its mana-acceleration potential significantly more potent.

The card features artwork by Mike Dringenberg, a legendary illustrator known for his work on The Sandman series. Dringenberg’s depiction captures the violent, elemental eruption of a magical geyser, utilizing a dramatic and kinetic style that emphasizes the sudden influx of energy. Upon its release, the card was received as a staple of the red color identity in casual and Commander play, praised for its ability to enable explosive turns and swing the momentum of a game when played at the right moment.
