Where it came from
Mass Hysteria is a red enchantment originally introduced in the Scourge expansion in 2003, designed to embody the chaotic and high-speed nature of red-aligned gameplay. The card provides all creatures with haste, a mechanic that allows them to ignore summoning sickness, thereby encouraging aggressive, fast-paced playstyles that emphasize immediate combat pressure over long-term strategic setup.
The version found in Innistrad Remastered features updated art that maintains the thematic essence of the original, illustrating a frenzied, maddened throng. This reprint serves to bring the card into the modern frame and aesthetic context of the Innistrad setting, where themes of gothic horror and psychological instability are central, making the card a mechanical and thematic fit for the set's high-variance gameplay environment.
