Master's Guide-Mural // Master's Manufactory

Master's Guide-Mural is a double-faced card from the 2023 Magic: The Gathering set, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan. It was designed as part of a cycle of cards representing the deep, subterranean mythology of the plane, specifically focusing on the transformative journey of the Orazca civilization. The design team intended for these cards to visually and mechanically depict the process of discovery and crafting within the cavernous environment, acting as both a utility piece and a narrative focal point for the set's exploration theme.

The card features artwork by the illustrator Volkan Baga, whose work on the series emphasizes the ancient, architectural aesthetic of the Ixalan setting. By illustrating the transition from a guiding mural to a functioning manufactory, the design aims to capture the transition from historical reverence to practical utility. Upon release, players noted the card for its unique flavor integration, viewing it as a sophisticated piece of world-building that rewards deck archetypes centered on artifact synergy and long-term resource management.
