Mental Note

Mental Note was released as part of the World Championship Decks 2002, a specialized product line from Wizards of the Coast. These decks were exact reproductions of the lists used by the top players at the 2002 Magic: The Gathering World Championship. The cards in these sets are distinguished by gold-bordered backs and facsimile signatures of the players, making them non-tournament legal but highly sought after for their representation of competitive history.

The card itself was illustrated by Glen Angus, a prolific artist whose work frequently appeared in the Odyssey and Onslaught blocks. Angus utilized his signature style to depict the chaotic, cerebral process of dredging through one's own deck, a theme central to the card's mechanical function. Upon its introduction in the Judgment expansion and subsequent inclusion in the 2002 championship decks, it was recognized as a cornerstone for graveyard-focused strategies in competitive play.
