Minas Tirith Garrison

Minas Tirith Garrison was released in 2023 as part of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, a collaborative expansion between Wizards of the Coast and Middle-earth Enterprises. Designed for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, this set reimagined J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium through the lens of a modern mechanical ruleset, aiming to capture the epic scale of the War of the Ring. The card serves as a representative of the soldiers defending the capital of Gondor, highlighting the tactical and defensive flavor inherent to the city’s lore.

The artwork was created by illustrator Forrest Imel, who sought to capture the stoic, resolute nature of the Minas Tirith guard within the constraints of the game's standardized card frame. Like much of the artwork in the set, the design focuses on period-appropriate high fantasy aesthetics, intending to evoke a sense of heritage and military duty.
