Provenance

Where it came from

Mind Spring was released in 2024 as part of the Bloomburrow expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This set was unique for its anthropomorphic animal theme, set in the plane of the same name, which drew inspiration from classic literary traditions like Redwall and The Wind in the Willows. The card serves as a thematic reprint, originally appearing in earlier sets, now reimagined with art consistent with the pastoral and cozy high-fantasy aesthetic of the Bloomburrow world.

The artwork for this particular version was created by illustrator Justine Mara Andersen. In keeping with the set's design philosophy, the visual narrative shifts away from traditional high-fantasy wizardry to emphasize the whimsical, woodland-dwelling protagonists of Bloomburrow. The card was well-received by players for its balance of nostalgia and its seamless integration into the set's overarching illustrative style.
