Where it came from
The Mini-Master card from the Dominaria United promotional set was produced by Wizards of the Coast as part of a localized initiative to introduce new or returning players to the fundamental mechanics of Magic: The Gathering. Released in 2022 to coincide with the Dominaria United expansion, these cards were designed to facilitate a specific, stripped-down variant of the game known as 'Mini-Master' or 'Pack Wars,' where players compete using only the cards contained within a single sealed booster pack.
The design of the card leans into the high-fantasy aesthetic associated with the plane of Dominaria, utilizing clean typography and instructional layout to ensure the rules remain accessible during gameplay. By providing a tactile reference for the format, the card acts as both a functional utility for store-level demonstrations and a unique collectible for fans of the franchise’s history and secondary game variants.
