Where it came from
Mister Cheddar, Cheese Sliver, identified as card RB05a, belongs to a niche promotional set distributed during an obscure gaming event. While the specific origins of the set remain undocumented, cards of this nature were frequently produced as localized mementos for attendees of community-driven hobbyist gatherings during the mid-to-late 2010s. The design emphasizes a whimsical, anthropomorphic aesthetic common among experimental indie card games, prioritizing visual charm and playful characterization over standardized competitive utility.
The character design reflects a trend of micro-narrative storytelling found in independent tabletop releases of that era. By centering on a quirky figure like Mister Cheddar, the illustrator aimed to evoke a sense of exclusivity and communal bonding among those who acquired it. The card was largely received as a curiosity piece by collectors, noted primarily for its distinct artistic identity within a set that lacked broader commercial distribution or formal documentation.
