Provenance

Where it came from

The Mountain card from the Crimson Vow Art Series was released in 2021 as part of a specialized line of promotional cards for the Magic: The Gathering expansion set, Innistrad: Crimson Vow. These Art Series cards were designed to highlight the high-fantasy aesthetic of the gothic horror-themed set, functioning as collectible display pieces rather than standard functional game cards. They are notable for being oversized and featuring full-bleed artwork without the typical game rules text printed on the face of the card.

This specific illustration draws from the established visual language of the Innistrad plane, emphasizing a dark, atmospheric interpretation of the landscape. The artwork was created to immerse players in the world-building of the set, focusing on the moody, misty, and foreboding natural environments that define the region. While the series was well-received by collectors for its aesthetic focus, it remains a distinct niche within the broader hobby as a decorative accompaniment to the playable expansion cards.
