Where it came from
Multiversal Incursion, card number 68 in the Marvel Super Heroes trading card set, was produced during the peak of the 1990s collectible card craze. This era saw companies like Impel and SkyBox capitalizing on the surging popularity of comic book lore by releasing detailed, high-quality sets that cataloged the vast histories of characters and major storylines. This card represents the narrative ambition of the time, aiming to distill complex cosmic events into a single, visually striking collectible for the burgeoning secondary market.
The design of the card emphasizes the dramatic, high-contrast aesthetic synonymous with early 90s Marvel editorial choices. By featuring dynamic, kinetic artwork, the set designers sought to capture the high stakes of the comic panels from which these moments were drawn. These cards were generally well-received by fans and collectors who appreciated the effort to organize decades of narrative continuity, and they remain staples of nostalgia for those who grew up documenting the expansive Marvel universe.
