What it does
Changeling (This card is every creature type.)
When this creature enters, create a tapped Mutavault token. (It's a land with "tap: Add colorless mana" and "1 generic mana: This token becomes a 2/2 creature with all creature types until end of turn. It's still a land.")
"It had been to warrens and kithkin taverns, but found a home in the hidden cavern." —The Changeling's Search

Where it came from
Mutable Explorer was released as part of the Lorwyn Eclipsed expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, this set drew heavily from the folklore-rich, pastoral aesthetic of the original Lorwyn block while introducing darker, transformative themes that mirrored the shifting nature of the plane. The card serves as a representative piece of the set’s focus on adaptability and creature-type fluidity, mechanics that were central to the identity of the Lorwyn environment.
The visual identity of the card, crafted by the illustrators associated with the Lorwyn aesthetic, centers on the ethereal and shifting form of the creature. The design intent was to capture the whimsical yet unstable essence of the plane's inhabitants. Upon its release, the card was integrated into various tribal strategies, appreciated by players for its technical utility in mana fixing and its thematic alignment with the complex, shifting mechanics that defined the Lorwyn Eclipsed meta.
