Where it came from
Myr Reservoir was released in 2010 as part of the Scars of Mirrodin set, a return to the plane of Mirrodin that explored a darker, more corrupted narrative than the original block. Within the game's lore, the Myr are small, inquisitive construct creatures designed to serve the plane's inhabitants, though their utility was repurposed as the metallic world succumbed to the influence of the Phyrexians.
The card's artwork, illustrated by Franz Vohwinkel, emphasizes the functional, industrial aesthetic of the Mirrodin environment. Vohwinkel chose to highlight the repository aspect of the structure, depicting it as a centralized hub for the Myr units. The design focuses on mechanical utility, fitting the set's theme of artifact-heavy gameplay and the specific synergy requirements for players utilizing Myr-based tribal decks.
