Myr Retriever

Myr Retriever was originally introduced in the 2003 Mirrodin expansion, a set centered on a plane made entirely of metal. The card depicts a small, insectoid construct native to this artificial world, designed with a utilitarian aesthetic that reflects the industrious nature of the Myr. Functionally, it became a staple of artifact-themed decks due to its death trigger, which allows a player to return another artifact from their graveyard to their hand.

This specific printing comes from the 2014 Commander product line, a series of preconstructed decks released annually by Wizards of the Coast. The art for the original iteration was created by Kev Walker, whose style emphasizes the cold, mechanical reality of Mirrodin. Within the Commander 2014 set, the card was included to provide utility and resiliency for players utilizing artifact-heavy strategies, maintaining the card's enduring reputation as a reliable and efficient utility piece in the game's ecosystem.
