Myr Sire

Myr Sire was originally introduced in the Scars of Mirrodin set in 2010, designed as a common utility creature that embodies the mechanical, artifact-centric lore of the plane of Mirrodin. It features the signature 'Myr' aesthetic, a race of small, construct-like beings created by Memnarch to serve the world of metal. The card’s design serves a dual purpose in gameplay, providing a creature on the battlefield and leaving behind a replacement token upon its death, which became a staple for sacrifice-based strategies in both Limited and Constructed formats.

The artwork for this specific printing, featured in the 2018 Commander Anthology Volume II collection, was created by Jaime Jones. Jones chose to emphasize the industrial and somewhat desolate nature of the Myr, utilizing cold, metallic textures and a stark composition that highlights the creature’s utilitarian form. The Anthology release was intended to provide players with accessible versions of fan-favorite cards from previous Commander products, and the inclusion of Myr Sire reflects its enduring utility within the Commander format's ecosystem.
