Mystical Tutor was first released in the 1996 expansion set Mirage, which was the first set designed specifically to be drafted as a standalone experience. The artwork for this printing was created by David O'Connor, who contributed several pieces to the Mirage block. O'Connor utilized a stylistic approach that emphasizes the arcane and ephemeral nature of the spell, featuring a cloaked figure surrounded by swirling ethereal energy.
