Where it came from
This card belongs to the Art Series subset of the Duskmourn: House of Horror expansion, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. The set draws heavy inspiration from classic 1980s and 1990s horror tropes, transforming the Magic: The Gathering multiverse into a haunted, shifting mansion known as Duskmourn. These cards are specifically designed as high-quality, borderless reproductions of the expansion's primary artwork, intended to highlight the aesthetic tone of the set rather than serve as functional gameplay pieces.
The artwork for this specific card features the character Nashi, a prominent figure in the modern Magic narrative, rendered in a visceral, unsettling style fitting the horror genre. The piece was created to reflect the character's desperate struggle within the otherworldly confines of the house. Because these cards are produced as premium collectibles for fans of the game's illustration, they are prized for their clean presentation of the original composition, effectively stripping away the typical text boxes to provide an unencumbered view of the illustrator's creative vision.
