Noggle Bridgebreaker

Noggle Bridgebreaker was released in 2008 as part of the Eventide set, the second expansion in the Shadowmoor block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to explore the concept of a shifting world, emphasizing cards that functioned differently depending on the color of mana spent to cast them. Within this context, the Noggles—a race of bipedal, donkey-like creatures originating from the plane of Shadowmoor—were introduced as chaotic, fun-loving, and somewhat destructive inhabitants of this transformed landscape.

The card's illustration was created by artist Jesper Ejsing, who captured the Noggle's manic, impish personality. The design intent was to showcase the creature's aptitude for smashing through obstacles, reflected in its ability to destroy artifacts. While Noggles did not become a permanent fixture in the game’s core lore, they remain a beloved example of the quirky, localized character design that Wizards of the Coast employed during the late 2000s to flesh out the eccentric inhabitants of the Multiverse.
