Norn's Annex was originally released in 2011 as part of the New Phyrexia expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed by the Wizards of the Coast development team, it represents the influence of Elesh Norn, the Mother of Machines, within the Phyrexian hierarchy. The card introduced a unique mechanics-based tax on opponents, embodying the white-aligned Phyrexian philosophy of enforced order and religious zealotry.
