Where it came from
Ocelot Pride was released in 2024 as part of the Modern Horizons 3 expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set was designed specifically for the Modern format, aiming to introduce powerful new mechanics and themes that cater to long-term players. The card itself centers on the 'token' archetype, reflecting the set's broader interest in expanding board-state complexity and rewarding players for generating multiple creatures.
The artwork for Ocelot Pride was illustrated by the artist Borja Pindado. The design focuses on a feline aesthetic consistent with the creature type, rendered with a stylized, vibrant palette that has become characteristic of modern card expansions. Upon its release, the card received significant attention from the community due to its efficient mana cost and strong synergy with popular strategic archetypes, quickly becoming a staple in competitive play.
