Ogre Arsonist

The Ogre Arsonist was originally printed in the 2010 Magic: The Gathering set Rise of the Eldrazi. Designed as a common red creature, its mechanics reflected the set's thematic focus on chaotic, high-cost threats and the destruction of the landscape. It was illustrated by Dave Kendall, whose work often leans into the gritty, visceral aesthetic common to the fantasy tropes of the era, portraying the ogre as a frenzied agent of ruin consistent with the game’s fire-themed archetypes.

The version from The List represents a modern initiative by Wizards of the Coast to reintroduce older, out-of-print cards into current product packaging. By including cards from various historical sets, the initiative allows players to encounter older designs in new booster packs. This particular inclusion serves as a nod to the game's expansive history, maintaining the card's original mechanical identity while circulating it among a new generation of players who may have missed its initial release.
