Ondu Giant

Ondu Giant was released in 2010 as part of the Rise of the Eldrazi expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set focused on the emergence of the Eldrazi, ancient, reality-warping entities, and depicted the inhabitants of the plane of Zendikar struggling to contain them. Mechanically, the card was designed to support the set's emphasis on ramp strategies, allowing players to search their library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield, which helped facilitate the casting of the set's signature high-mana cost creatures.

The card's illustration was created by artist Christopher Moeller, a staple of the Magic: The Gathering art community since the late 1990s. Moeller chose a dynamic, bottom-up perspective to emphasize the sheer scale of the Giant, grounding it within the treacherous, rugged terrain of the Ondu continent on Zendikar.
