Provenance

Where it came from

Orgg was originally released as a rare card in the 1997 Weatherlight expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Its design captures the brutal, straightforward aesthetic of early creature cards, featuring art by Daren Bader. The card was created during a period when the game focused heavily on high-mana cost creatures with singular, powerful abilities intended to dominate the board state in casual play.

The Timeshifted version, numbered 67 in the 2006 Time Spiral set, was released as part of a special subset of 121 cards that featured updated modern frames but retained their original illustrations. This release was a nostalgic celebration of Magic's history, designed to introduce newer players to iconic cards from the game's first decade. It was well-received by long-term collectors for its unique purple expansion symbol and its status as a direct visual bridge between the game's past and its then-current mechanics.
